Extremism as a security threat in Central Europe

 

  • Round table in BRATISLAVA – September 10, 2013

The third international round table discussion was focused on the most recent situation concerning radicalization and extremist tendencies among current as well as former members of military forces and possible solutions and best practices how to deal with the situation in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

  • 5 Regional round tables in RIMAVSKÁ SOBOTA –  March-June 2013

CENAA in cooperation with Fundament civic association organized a series of roundtable discussions in Rimavská Sobota. Round tables were held from March and June 2013 and their aim was to establish platform for discussion on the most serious problems of the region concerning the threat of growing extremist tendencies. Each of five discussions was be attended by more than 20 local actors from Gemer region, including representatives of civil society, teachers, local government and police staff, who identified key issues and challenges, their causes and contributed to the formulation of recommendations for the fight against extremism on the local level. Round tables were attended also by guests from Czech Republic and Hungary in order to exchange experience and best practices on interregional as well as international level.

  • Round table in BERLIN –  November 16, 2012

The main themes of the second round table was German experiences from countering extremism – implications and recommendations for CR and SR; and Central European influence towards Germany.

  • Round table in BRATISLAVA –  June 7, 2012

CENAA in cooperation with Czech and German experts organized round table about cross-border cooperation of extremist groups as a security threat for Central Europe. In a group of 25 Central-European experts the main themes of discussion were financing, ideological and organizational cooperation as well as counter-extremist measures.
